190705-M-QF372-2180 ATLANTIC OCEAN ( July 5, 2019) Marines and Sailors aboard the Wasp-class amphibious assault ship USS Kearsarge (LHD-3) participate in the American 5k on the ship’s flight deck. The service members took part in the run to build comradery, exercise and have fun. The Kearsarge is nearing the end of a scheduled deployment as part of the 22nd MEU and the Kearsarge Amphibious Ready Group, where it supported of maritime security operations, crisis response and theater security cooperation, and also provided a forward Naval and Marine presence.
