190503-N-OE873-1056 SAN DIEGO (May 3, 2019) Command Master Chief Neal Olds, assigned to the amphibious assault ship USS Makin Island (LHD 8), places a master chief cover on Senior Chief Fire Controlman Joan Buccat during a pinning ceremony. She was the only senior chief aboard the ship selected for advancement to master chief petty officer. Makin Island, homeported in San Diego, is conducting depot-level maintenance availability.
