190501-N-SB299-1101 SAN DIEGO (May 1, 2019) Sailors and Marines aboard the amphibious assault ship USS Boxer (LHD 4) depart Naval Base San Diego, May 1, 2019, for a scheduled deployment. Boxer is the flagship of the Boxer Amphibious Ready Group, which also includes the amphibious transport dock ship USS John P. Murtha (LPD 26) and the amphibious dock landing ship USS Harpers Ferry (LSD 49), as well as the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU). The ARG/MEU team will conduct maritime security operations, crisis response operations, theater security cooperation and forward naval presence operations while deployed.
