190424-N-CL765-1007 U.S. 5TH FLEET AREA OF OPERATIONS (April 24, 2019) Avionics Technician 2nd Class Damian Patchin, attached to Patrol Squadron (VP) 40, consults maintenance publications while troubleshooting the intercommunication system of a P-3C Orion aircraft. VP-40 is deployed to the U.S. 5th and 7th Fleet areas of operations in support of naval operations to ensure maritime stability and security. VP-40 is the last active-duty squadron to fly the P-3C Orion aircraft and after this deployment will transition to the P-8 Poseidon.
