(April 1, 2019) Active duty and retired chief petty officers from the Center for Information Warfare Training, Naval Hospital Pensacola, Navy Information Operations Command, Pensacola; and Information Warfare Training Command, Corry Station; perform and observe morning colors at Naval Air Station Pensacola, Corry Station, in celebration of the 126th birthday of Navy chief petty officers. On April 1, 1893, Navy General Order 409 established the rank of chief petty officer. Today, the chief serves as a technical expert and leader, and is recognized as the backbone of the Navy.
