(March 26, 2019) Sailors on the in-port emergency team and a civilian firefighter from Newport News Shipyard (NNS) fight a simulated class alpha fire during a drill in conjunction with the NNS shipyard fire department aboard the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS George Washington (CVN 73). George Washington is undergoing refueling complex overhaul (RCOH) at Newport News Shipyard. RCOH is a four-year project performed once during an aircraft carriers life-cycle that includes refueling of the ship's two nuclear reactors, repairs, upgrades and modernization.
