190325-N-ET019-1490 HONOLULU March 25, 2018) Sailors from Navy Region Hawaii transport the remains of U.S. Navy Fireman 1st Class Lewis Frank Tindall at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific in Honolulu, Hawaii, March 25, 2019. On Dec. 7, 1941, Tindall was assigned to the USS Oklahoma which sustained fire from Japanese aircraft and multiple torpedo hits causing the ship to capsize and resulted in the deaths of over 400 crew members at Ford Island, Pearl Harbor. Tindall was recently identified through DNA analysis by the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency’s (DPAA) forensic laboratory and returned to his family for burial with full military honors.
