190301-N-LN093-1158 SAN DIEGO (March 1, 2019) The Whidbey Island-class amphibious dock landing ship USS Rushmore (LSD 47) transits San Diego Bay, March 1, 2019 as it returns to homeport in San Diego following a successful eight-month deployment to the U.S. 5th, 6th and 7th Fleet areas of operation. Rushmore is part of the Essex Amphibious Ready Group. The deployment marked the first combat deployment of the Marine Corps F-35B Lightning II.
