190207-M-RD633-101 SULU SEA (Feb. 7, 2019) U.S. Marines assigned to the 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) watch the sun set after attending a memorial service for Cpl. Jonathan Currier. The memorial was held as the Essex ARG and 13th MEU sailed through the Sulu Sea, Philippines; the same sea where Currier went missing six months earlier. The Essex ARG and 13th MEU is a capable and lethal Navy-Marine Corps team deployed to the U.S. 7th Fleet area of operations to support regional stability, reassure partners and allies and maintain a presence postured to respond to any crisis ranging from humanitarian assistance to contingency operations.
