190204-M-YD783-0057 GULF OF ARABIA (Feb. 4, 2019) Alpha Company Marines assigned to the 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) board an MV-22 Osprey aboard the Wasp-class amphibious assault ship USS Kearsarge (LHD 3) to conduct tactical recovery of aircraft and personnel training. The 1st Battalion, 2nd Marine Regiment, Alpha Company Marines are conducting TRAP training as preparation for entering combative areas and retrieving or destroying sensitive material as well as recovering personnel. Marines and Sailors with the 22nd MEU and the Kearsarge Amphibious Ready Group are deployed to the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations in support of naval operations to ensure maritime stability and security in the Central Region, connecting the Mediterranean and the Pacific through the western Indian Ocean and three strategic choke points.
