Baez, from Queens, New York, calls away a 1MC announcement using his pipe as Boatswain's Mate of the Watch aboard U.S. 7th Fleet flagship, USS Blue Ridge (LCC 19). The Boatswain's Mate of the Watch are the voice of the ship, relaying messages and announcements to the entire crew over the 1MC. Blue Ridge is the oldest operational ship in the Navy and, as 7th Fleet command ship, actively works to foster relationships with allies and partners in the Indo-Pacific region.
