James Zmijski, a Sailor assigned to Expeditionary Medical Facility New Orleans Detachment, leads local doctors, nurses and paramedics through a tour of the personal housing unit (PHU) in New Orleans, La., April 13, 2020, in support of the Department of Defense COVID-19 response. The PHU is designed for symptomatic patients transferred from area hospital emergency departments with pending COVID-19 test results. The EMF works in coordination with federal, state, and local health officials to ensure equipment and resources are in place and are operationally capable to safely treat patients. U.S. Northern Command, through U.S. Army North, is providing military support to the Federal Emergency Management Agency to help communities in need.
