200331-N-MA259-1005 SASEBO, Japan (March 31, 2020) Builder 3rd Class Lawrence Spears, from Houston, deployed with Naval Mobile Construction Battalion (NMCB) 5, Detail Sasebo, cuts concrete for excavation at the two pre-engineered buildings construction site for Naval Beach Unit (NBU) 7 in Yokose, Japan. This project will provide NBU-7 a place to store and maintain their equipment, preventing equipment deterioration and increasing their lethality within the region. NMCB-5 is deployed across the Indo-Pacific region conducting high-quality construction to support U.S. and partner nations to strengthen partnerships, deter aggression, and enable expeditionary logistics and naval power projection.
