200329-N-OE749-0142 NEW YORK, N.Y. (March 29, 2020) Chief of Staff of the Army Gen. James C. McConville speaks with a news crew from CBS in the Javits New York Medical Station (JNYMS). During his visit, McConville toured the JNYMS and spoke with Soldiers from both the 531st and 9th Hospital Centers. These Soldiers, along with FEMA personnel and other federal, state and local agencies will operate out of the JNYMS to care for non-COVID-19 patients in an effort to relieve the burden on local hospitals, allowing them to focus on coronavirus patients. U.S. Northern Command is providing military support to the Department of the Health and Human Services as well as FEMA in order to help combat the spread of COVID-19.
