200313-N-WP865-1127 SOUTH CHINA SEA (March 13, 2020) The amphibious assault ship USS America (LHA 6) transits the South China Sea with MH-60S Sea Hawk helicopters from Helicopter Sea Combat Squadrons (HSC) 23, embarked aboard the littoral combat ship USS Gabrielle Giffords (LCS 10), and HSC-25, embarked aboard America. Gabrielle Giffords, part of Commander, Destroyer Squadron 7, is on a rotational deployment, operating in the U.S. 7th Fleet area of operations to enhance interoperability with partners and serve as a ready-response force.
