200301-N-AJ005-1254 PHILIPPINE SEA (March 1, 2020) The Japan Maritime Defense Force missile destroyers JS Sawagiri (DD 157) and JS Suzinami (DD 114) sail in formation during the U.S.-Japan Bilateral Advanced Warfighting Training (BAWT) exercise. BAWT improves interoperability between the U.S. and Japanese forces. This exercise enhances the ability of the U.S. Navy and JMSDF to work together to confront any contingency.
