200130-N-TE695-0004 NEWPORT, R.I. (Jan. 30, 2020) Students with Officer Development School (ODS) class 20020, at the Lt. Michael P. Murphy Combat Training Pool at Officer Training Command Newport (OTCN), remain afloat during the third-class swimmer test, Jan. 30, 2020. The test consists of jumping from a 10-foot tower into the pool to simulate abandoning ship, five minutes of floating in the prone position, coverall inflation, and a 50-yard swim. ODS provides Staff Corps Officers and several Restricted Line designators with training necessary to prepare them to function in their role as newly commissioned Naval Officers.
