Parker, a recruit division commander (RDC) assigned to Officer Training Command Newport (OTCN) in Newport, Rhode Island, holds up a loose thread while inspecting a student’s Navy working uniform (NWU) during Officer Candidate School (OCS) class 08-20’s NWU inspection, Jan. 10, 2020. Students are expected to properly maintain their uniforms at all times. The inspection marks the first time students are authorized to wear the complete NWU since arriving to OCS. OCS develops civilians and fleet Sailors into newly-commissioned officers morally, mentally, physically and imbued with the highest ideals of honor, courage and commitment for service in the fleet as naval officers.
