(Sept. 8, 2005) – Dutch Navy Sailors assigned to the frigate Van Amstel (F 831), lend a helping hand by carrying a box of household goods to a Hurricane Katrina survivor’s vehicle in D’Iberville, Miss. Sailors from the Netherlands, United States and Mexican navies are assisting in the relief efforts where needed. The Navy's involvement in the Hurricane Katrina humanitarian assistance operations is led by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), in conjunction with the Department of Defense.
