191216-N-PG340-2386 OKINAWA, Japan (Dec. 16, 2019) Builder Constructionman Laramie Furgason, deployed with Naval Mobile Construction Battalion (NMCB) 5, cleans a front-end loader at the wash wrack during a 48-hour Mount-Out Exercise on board Camp Shields, Okinawa. This exercise tests the battalion’s ability to deploy 89 personnel and 35-45 pieces of civil engineer support equipment within 48-hours to support major combat operations or humanitarian aid/disaster relief. NMCB-5 is deployed across the Indo-Pacific region conducting high-quality construction to support U.S. and partner nations to strengthen partnerships, deter aggression, and enable expeditionary logistics and naval power projection.
