190829-N-LN093-1012 SANTA RITA, Guam (Aug. 29, 2019) Explosive Ordnance Disposal Technician 1st Class Samuel Pitts, selected to chief petty officer, from Colorado Springs, Colorado, who is assigned to Explosive Ordnance Disposal Mobile Unit (EODMU) 5, observes members of Her Majesty�s New Zealand Ship Matataua (HMNZS Matataua) as they conduct a simulated underwater improvised explosive device (IED) clearing knowledge exchange as part of Exercise Hydracrab. Hydracrab is quadrilateral exercise conducted by forces from Australia, Canada, New Zealand and U.S. Naval forces. The purpose of this exercise is to prepare the participating Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) forces to operate as an integrated, capable and potent allied force ready to respond to a changing and complex maritime environment in the Indo-Pacific region.
