160227-N-IK959-616 GREAT LAKES, Ill. (Feb. 27, 2016) Recruit Division Commander (RDC) Aviation Electrician’s Mate Kyla Richardson shows Chief of Naval Operations (CNO) Adm. John Richardson an e-tablet in a recruit berthing compartment of the USS Hopper ship barracks at Recruit Training Command (RTC). The e-tablet is part of an e-Sailor initiative introduced in 2015 by Master Chief Petty Officer of the Navy (MCPON) Mike Stevens in partnership with Naval Service Training Command (NSTC) and Recruit Training Command (RTC). The goal of the e-Sailor initiative and use of e-tablets is to increase the quality of work and quality of life of both recruits and Recruit Division Commanders (RDCs). CNO and MCPON toured RTC facilities, including the Navy’s largest simulator USS Trayer (BST 21), a 210-foot-long replica of an Arleigh Burke-class guided missile destroyer, recruits use for their final training evolutions, known as Battle Stations, before graduating from the Navy’s only boot camp.
